Job Description

Works independently and provides direction to lower-level mechanics. Duties and Responsibilities * Repairs a variety of heavy equipment and tactical and commercial vehicles. * Maintains, repairs, rebuilds a variety of engines, brake systems, drive trains, suspension systems and electrical systems. * Provides support in testing and maintenance of developmental and fielded items to include tracked vehicles, heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, forklifts, fixed and mobile equipment, both tactical and commercial. * Duties require application of extensive practical knowledge of various equipment areas such as mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. * Operates and maintains all forms of automotive and support type equipment using a wide range of mechanical concepts and principles. * Troubleshoots and diagnoses faults by using the proper diagnostic equipment. Interprets wiring schematics and hydraulic flow charts. * Documents repairs needed, recommends/research repair parts, and completes required paperwork. * Repairs and services automotive air conditioning systems used with automotive and support equipment.
