GSI Service Group Inc. Airborne RF Systems Engineer in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland

GSI is looking for an exceptional systems engineer to join our on-going Science and Technology (S&T) efforts at one of the Army’s premier R&D Centers at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), Maryland. As part of the GSI Team

supporting advanced radar capabilities development, you will have access to state-of-the-art engineering and modeling tools and subject matter expertise in the areas of radar, M&S, and software/hardware development for current and future Army radar and sensor systems. Working as part of our high-caliber, dynamic team, you will support the advancement of approaches to develop and implement signal/data processing techniques and new radar concepts within a laboratory environment. You will support technical coordination with internal and external organizations to address requirements definition, use case development, and subsystem integration. You will have an opportunity to influence the development of next-generation advanced radar capabilities that will include being part of a high-performing team that will research, design, develop, and integrate models for various types of radar systems, collaborating across programs to achieve end-to-end solutions, providing analytic, statistical, radio-frequency signal and visual analysis capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support to radar S&T efforts

  • Support the development of new radar signal and data processing techniques and Radar concepts

  • Lead the development of modeling and simulation, Systems Integration Laboratories (SILs) and digital twins to support the development of new radar concepts and capabilities

  • Lead the development of system architectures and the integration of software and hardware subsystems

  • Lead and assist in conduct of meetings to negotiate solutions across subsystems and disciplines (software, hardware, modeling, and analysis)

Requirements:

  • Experience with airborne radar systems (e.g., counter-UAS systems)

  • BS (STEM) w/ 5+ years of experience

  • Experience with all aspects of systems engineering, including developing, designing, allocating, and managing user and system-level requirements; leading the development of the system architecture; evaluating design tradeoffs; balancing technical risk between systems; defining and assessing interfaces; and providing oversight of verification and validation activities

  • Experience in test and evaluation planning

  • Systems engineering experience with radar/RF software (primary) and hardware (secondary) subsystems

  • Clearly communicates complex ideas and produces/presents clear, well-organized presentations in relevant terms for audiences at all levels

  • This position requires the selected candidate to hold an active Department of Defense Secret level security clearance, which requires US citizenship while working in support of a government contract.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in radar and/or other RF system design, development, engineering, test, evaluation, and data analysis

  • Experience developing systems architectures/frameworks

  • Experience prototyping/implementing signal and data processing or conducting systems analysis with MATLAB, Python, and C++ Experience in model-based systems engineering tools

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Goal-oriented with excellent people skills, ability to work in a team environment, strong work ethic and proactive in all manners related to the job.
