Position

Additive Manufacturing Engineer

  • Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland

  • Security Clearance: Active Clearance or Eligible to Obtain - U.S. citizenship required

  • Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 Depending on Experience and Education

  • Travel: 5%

    Position Summary

    SURVICE Engineering is currently seeking a Additive Manufacturing Engineer to support our Aberdeen Research Operation. You will accelerate your career and become an integral team member within the defense community.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engineer specializing in the operation of composite fiber placement and/or polymer additive manufacturing equipment, perform materials characterizations on polymer additive manufacturing feedstocks, and evaluate mechanical properties of products manufactured.

  • Interpret control software and interface system to operate manufacturing equipment for manufacturing engineered structures using fiber placement or additive manufacturing tools.

  • Mechanically test or evaluate products formed using Instron or equivalent load frames and be capable of establishing test protocols to software systems related to mechanical analysis.

  • Interpret results and analyze performance of measured systems to provide design of experiments.

  • Characterize materials using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), according to ASTM expected processes.

  • Operate technical equipment for polymer additive manufacturing processes.

  • Operate fiber draw facility and feedstock formation to support continuous fiber drawing from polymer feedstocks.

  • Design layer by layer assembly of systems based upon material properties of the feedstocks (polymer or fiber reinforced).

  • Design prototype concepts for testing material properties.

  • Measure materials response using appropriate ASTM or equivalent standard test protocols.

  • Prepare presentations and written documents summarizing efforts in Government format for Form 1 approval (process of instruction provided by COR as GFI).

    Minimum Qualifications of Additive Manufacturing Engineer Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering and 1+ years of relevant experience or PhD and 0 years of relevant experience. Exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered. Candidates are not required to possess all qualifications; if you possess some of the desired qualifications, please apply.

  • Experience with design of experiments methods.

  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing or processing of composites or additive manufacturing methods.
