MITRE’s Army Division has openings in cyber security, computer science, software engineering or similar degree programs to work on solving challenges across on a variety of cutting-edge projects. We are seeking a hardworking and motivated Zero Trust Cybersecurity Architect to join our team. As a key member of the organization, you will play a crucial role in enhancing cybersecurity practices and ensuring the implementation of robust security measures. Roles and Responsibilities:

Zero Trust is a security framework requiring all users, whether in or outside the organization's network to be authenticated, authorized, and continuously validated for security configuration and posture before being granted or keeping access to applications and data. In this role, the candidate will lead the development and definition of a tactical Zero Trust security architecture in support of the PEO C3T enterprise and deliver implementation strategies to ensure the least privilege access, micro-segmentation, and continuous monitoring of network traffic, and collaborate to integrate Zero Trust principles into existing and new systems.

The technical work areas include the architecture, analysis, development, and prototyping of cyber security technologies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate the current state of Zero Trust Architecture implemented across all systems.

  • Develop a roadmap defining the best path forward to implement Zero Trust Architecture across all systems, with regular updates.

  • Evaluate development methodologies’ adherence to security compliance.

  • Prototype supporting technologies such as software defined networking, identity, credential, and access management (ICAM), public key infrastructure (PKI), automation and orchestration, endpoint protection, security information event management (SIEM) and data tagging.

  • Author technical documentation, whitepapers, test plans, reports on leading cybersecurity topics and concepts.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including executives, to drive Zero Trust adoption.

  • Collaborate with project teams to ideate, build, and execute cybersecurity capability maturation.

  • Defining and developing requirements for implementing Zero Trust and the adoption of cybersecurity policy that covers all aspects of network operations.

  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities for cybersecurity personnel and ensure that all stakeholders are aware of their responsibilities for safeguarding the organization’s digital assets.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, including but not limited to: Cyber Security, Computer Science, engineering, Technology, or related field and 5 years of relate experience, or a Master’s and 3 years of experience or PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Understanding of Zero Trust principles that requires organizations to assume that all network traffic, both internal and external is untrusted until proven otherwise.

  • Hands on knowledge of technologies supporting the seven Zero Trust pillars identified in the DoD Zero Trust Reference Architecture (Network/Environment, Automation & Orchestration, Devices, Data, Users, Workloads, Visibility & Analytics)

  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing Zero Trust architectures in complex enterprise environments, preferably within the federal sector.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Candidate must possess an active DoD Secret Clearance.

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Familiarity with IAM, AI, analytics, secure DevOps, and network security tools

  • General knowledge of Army and DoD operations

  • Familiarity with challenges associated with edge computing and tactical communications.
