Veterans Inc. Suicide Prevention Grant Program- Benefits Counselor in 69 Grove St, United States

With the belief that they were there when we needed them, so we must be there now that they need us, Veterans Inc., the largest provider of supportive services to Veterans and their families in New England, is seeking to fill the Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SPGP) Benefits Counselor position and become a valued member of Veterans Inc. team!

The SPGP Benefits Counselor will be a part of the team under the SSG Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program. This position is based out of our Worcester, MA location and serves veterans throughout Massachusetts.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAY TO DAY:

  • Assist qualified veterans in researching and applying for resources through the VA, and any federal, state, or local programs.

  • Liaison between Veterans Inc and the VA or community medical clinics

  • Work with the veteran's assigned multidisciplinary team to provide timely, appropriate veteran-centered care

  • Work closely with the veteran and their families to assist them in communicating their preferences in care

  • Develop and maintain positive, effective relationships with providers, physicians, family members, and clients

    WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Services or related field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience working in a non-profit environment.

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in case management, substance abuse prevention, outreach, and/or services to the homeless or veteran populations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with veterans preferred but not required; sensitivity to veterans-related needs and issues.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a CORI/Background records check.

  • Compliance with Veterans Inc. COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Religious and Medical Exemptions are considered.
