As a Cyber Systems Engineer, you’ll develop and oversee the Certification, Accreditation and Cyber worthiness program for the development of new critical defence systems.

To be successful in this role you must be able to:

  • Lead the development and management of key security certification and cyber worthiness artefacts

  • Work with system designers to implement security into designs

  • Conduct regular security working groups to discuss risks and controls with stakeholders

  • Conduct threat modelling to identify and articulate security risks and analyse potential treatments

  • Support and conduct practical threat assessments and treatment analysis

  • Oversee the execution of successful cyber worthiness accreditation

The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:

  • Requires a University Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or other STEM discipline with relevant technical experience.

  • 10 years working experience in a similar role.

  • Requires an intermediate to advanced understanding of systems engineering processes

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing security measures for complex systems.

  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, including:

  • Network and system security

  • Access controls and authentication

  • Vulnerability management

  • Incident response and disaster recovery

  • Compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g. NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, PSPF, ISM and DSPF)

  • Experience with security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) and security information and event management systems (SIEMs).

  • Strong delivery, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills.

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva
