Job Details

BASIC FUNCTION

Cleans, skids, and wraps commercial air handling units using shrinkwrap, banding material, and tape. Also prepares units for painting if necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING.  OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED

  • Cleans unit to remove all numbers, caulk, and other foreign material.
  • Places unit on runners or skids as necessary.
  • Utilizes a fork-truck to move units and return wheels to start of line. Must also retrieve supplies and materials.
  • Coordinates with Electrical area, assembly line and shipping to prioritize work.
  • Sprays unit with Rust Preventative spray.
  • Prepares unit for shipping by shrink wrapping.
  • Prepares unit for painting by covering all areas not to be painted.
  • Uses overhead crane, heat gun, air gun, nail gun, air sprayer, circular saw, and other hand tools to prepare unit for shipment
  • Responsible for reporting work related injuries and near misses to supervision.
  • Responsible for wearing all required PPE and following applicable safety/environmental rules.
  • Responsible for correcting or reporting unsafe conditions observed within the plant.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE ABILITY

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos (i.e. safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, shop-floor paperwork, and procedure manuals).  Ability to transfer information from written instructions to shipping documents.

MATH ABILITY

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

No computer skills required.

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES

Forklift license required.  Must be able to obtain within three (3) months.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
