Do you want to take part in accelerating the networking solution for data centers across NVIDIA's product portfolio?

NVIDIA Co-packaged Optics Group is seeking a dedicated and hard-working student to join our laser and optics testing team.

We seek a student in the relevant field of study who is dynamic, independent, and can work in a laser and hardware lab environment. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform tests of lasers and other optical and photonic components and sub-systems and support the physicists and engineers in the team in the daily development work. The ideal candidate will be interested and passionate about optics and physics and have a course background in optics, lasers, and fiber optic technology. We prefer experience in hardware lab work, for example, with electronic and RF equipment, test scripts, etc. The lasers and optics student will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and chip into the development and improvement of silicon photonics co-packaged systems.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Perform laser testing and characterization of packaged laser chips, including output power, wavelength, modulation, and noise measurements.

  • Implement test methodologies and be able to run and complete experiments for laser characterization and performance evaluation.

  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists to assist in developing silicon-photonic co-packaged optical modules.

  • Capable of documenting experimental results and findings accurately and comprehensively.

What we need to see:

  • Student for BSc or higher degree in EE, Physics, Optics, Electro-optics, or related fields. Background courses in electro-optics and lasers are an advantage.

  • Available to work two days a week, preferred to have two years until graduation.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Knowledge of MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW, for data analysis and automation.

  • Knowledge in optics, laser physics, and fiber optics.

  • Hands-on work experience in electronics or RF lab.
