PUKALL LUMBER COMPANY Machine Operator-Planing/Moulding Mill in WOODRUFF, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. Basic set-up and operate machines to include turning on cutting heads, infeed rollers, lubrication, chip-breakers, run/jog. Adjust cutting heads, infeed rollers, infeed gate, side shoes, straight edges, hold downs, outfeed rollers, chip-breakers. Set production speed by adjusting controls for feed rate, cutting tool speed, and cut depth. Read production work orders. Confirm lumber species, grade, and size for production run. Assure product measurements, quality, and all specifications are correct. Maintain thickness tolerance by measuring boards throughout production run. Maintain the machine by oiling and greasing join knives when they are dull; change knives and chains as needed. Responsible for oiling and greasing machines. Identify lumber defects. Check for stones and nails embedded in the unfinished boards and remove as needed. Check lumber moisture contact. Maintain quality control by monitoring finished products, rejecting items that do not meet specifications, and removing those from production. Communicate with Lift Driver when wood shavings trailer is full and needs to be replaced. Responsible for clean-up procedures in work area and surroundings. Responsible for shutdown operations to include turning off machines and blowers at the end of the shift.
