Job Description Master Data Management Data Specialist 2001 Theurer Blvd, Winona, MN 55987 HEADQ Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 7:00am - 5:00pm OVERVIEW: Working as a Master Data Management (MDM) Data Specialist you will be responsible for the creation of new data records or updates to existing records to ensure the accuracy and quality of data for consumption by various functional areas of the company. By bringing an orientation for data accuracy to work every day you will ensure that customer interactions, business processes, reporting systems, analytics projects, and business decisions within Fastenal are supported with high quality information. RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: oCreating new data records based on validated information and governance processes oResearching and updating information on MDM topics either prompted through business processes or from specific business users identifying needs for improved information oValidating MDM data against other internal and external data sources as needed oMaintaining data accuracy and cleanliness by performing integrity checks and cleansing processes, including researching and resolving any issues uncovered oAssisting in duplicate record identification and data cleansing to reconcile those situations oIdentifying data quality or process improvement opportunities and escalating them to leadership where needed oMaintaining frequent communication and rapport building with members of our branch operations, corporate support teams and professional sales teams for data validation and issue resolution oProcessing MDM support requests in a timely and accurate manner while ensuring quality and governance policies and procedures are followed REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: The following skills and qualifications are required for this position: oPossess or working towards a degree in business, marketing, data science, information technology, computer science, processes management or related field OR at least 1 year of experience in a customer service or business environment oExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and information accuracy oProficient using the Microsoft Office Suite oExcellent written and oral communication skills oMaintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive company and employee information oHighly motivated, self-directed and customer service oriented oLearn and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment oWork independently as well as in a team environment oScheduling flexibility with advance notice oDemonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity, and teamwork oPass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam ONLY) PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: oPrevious experience working with large data sets oPrevious experience with research, document processing, data entry, or equivalent business processes oPrevious experience with Microsoft Excel, and basic database software like Microsoft Access or SQL oPrevious experience with MDM related software products ABOUT US: Since 1967 Fastenal has grown as a distributor of industrial and construction supplies from a single branch to a Fortune 500 company with over 3,000 servicing locations, each providing tailored local inventory and personal service for our customers.
