Job Title: Journeyman Electrician (FBI-CRC)

Job Summary: EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for a Journeyman Electrician at our General Services Administration (GSA) Operations, Maintenance, Custodial and Related Services FBI Central Records Complex (CRC) contract in Winchester, VA . Must have or be able to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.

  • Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand-tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.

  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.

  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.

  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using the proper test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.

  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses with other maintenance workers to diagnose malfunction.

  • Replaces faulty electrical components, such as relays, switches, breakers, motor starters and positions sensing devices.

  • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, to include circuit boards, but not limited to, using electronic test equipment and hand-tools.

  • Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.

  • May plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.

  • May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.

  • Perform other tasks as directed by his supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess an active TOP SECRET Security Clearance, or eligibility to obtain.

  • Must possess a current journeyman electrician license or meet the qualification requirements of the American National Standards Institute/International Electrical Testing Association ETT-2015, Standard for Certification of Electrical Testing Technicians and hold at least a Level 3 or 4.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or government facilities preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 75 lbs.)

  • Prolong, extensive or considerable standing/walking.

  • Push/pull or move/lift equipment, supplies.

  • Manual dexterity and mobility.

  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
