Position Description

As a valuable member of our team as an ironworker trainee, your learning begins with working alongside experienced Ironworkers who will guide you on your career path to becoming a well-rounded Ironworker. Youll complete a wide range of tasks to include cutting, rigging, hoisting, connecting, aligning, bolt-up, welding and bracing structural steel members.

Position Requirements

Essential Functions:

Reliable and punctual attendance\ Determine quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions\ Hoist steel beams, girders, or columns\ Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment\ Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting\ Cut rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or torches\ Cut and fit wire mesh or fabric, using hooked rods, and position fabric or mesh in concrete to reinforce concrete

Requirements:

To succeed as an ironworker, an individual must be able to take direction and work with others as a team; follow company safety policies and participate in safety training programs; and demonstrate the ability to maintain and operate tools and equipment such as arc and wire-feed welders, grinders, quickie saw, rebar shear, porta-band saw, cutting torch, chain falls, torque wrench, TC Impact gun, Hogan drill and hammer drills.

Working Conditions:\ Standing and walking for long periods\ Lifting in excess of 40 lbs\ Working inside and outside in all weather and temperature conditions\ Varying noise levels that require ear protection\ Working in cramped quarters\ Frequently exposed to high places
