Serco Project Manager in Washington, District Of Columbia

Position Description

In the role of Project Manager on the Team Submarine contract, you will have influence every day in managing and supporting a critical need to maintain our submarine force operational and at-sea. As a part of the dynamic In-Service team, located in Washington, D.C., you will be expected to bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors.

Serco supports the US Navy for their Team Submarine contract in the maintenance, sustainment, and disposal of in-service submarines. The Team Submarine concept unifies diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.

The Project Manager will provide programmatic support to one of our NAVSEA customers.

In this role, you will:

  • Be the primary customer contact for all activities, meeting with and updating the customer on project status.

  • Lead program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.

  • Provide acquisition management planning and execution support.

  • Be the single point of contact on all contract management support related issues, including required reports and presentations responsible for quality control and timeliness.

  • Provide financial and management support to assist in budget development for the contract.

  • Deliver the technical performance within cost and schedule parameter through completion of the contract.

  • Manage the technical and administrative staff and provide ongoing direction in the performance of the assigned program.

  • Develop and monitor program plan including time and cost estimates, ensuring delivery of project outputs on schedule and within funding.

  • Lead technical discussions for project reviews, including preparing and delivering formal briefings.

  • Participate in company Business Development efforts.

  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful, the Project Manager must have:

  • A current or active DoD Secret security clearance.

  • A Bachelor's degree in a business or technical field with five to seven years hands-on experience, with at least ten years exposure in the areas of engineering/science management, operations research analysis, financial/cost analysis, as well as an expert level knowledge and experience with Navy acquisition and submarine programs.

  • In lieu of a degree, must have at least twelve or more years of experience in engineering/science management, operations research analysis, financial/cost analysis, or a relevant field, as well as expert level knowledge and experience with Navy acquisition and submarine programs.

  • Experience leading a project and interfacing with an end item customer.

  • The ability to travel at least 10% of the time.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Knowledge of program management, to include the acquisition process, the budgeting process and Navy program execution.

  • Active-duty experience in the Submarine Service.

  • Recent experience in Team Submarine.
