Description

Non-Profit organization in Washington DC is looking for a Director of Human Resources. The role involves overseeing a range of HR functions, from employee relations to performance management, in a bustling workplace setting. The Director of Human Resources will be expected to foster a respectful and inclusive work environment, while ensuring compliance with local, state, and U.S. human resources-related laws.

Director of Human Resources Core Responsibilities:

• Build and sustain collaborative relationships within the team, managing conflict resolution when necessary.

• Support team members in managing their priorities, tasks, and projects effectively.

• Hold the team and self accountable to achieve objectives, supporting and managing department employees.

• Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to the HR team.

• Develop and implement HR strategies, systems, policies, and practices that support company goals and needs.

• Strategically rethink the staff evaluation system, from organizational competencies to feedback.

• Guide and support the HR team in identifying and implementing best practices to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.

• Collaborate closely with other departments on organizational compensation and benefits philosophy.

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and U.S. human resources-related laws, working closely with the legal team.

• Serve as a senior point of contact for collective bargaining unit, including direct involvement in any formal grievance processes.

• Oversee the HRIS system, ensuring adequate testing and implementation of new components and functionality.

• Analyse, recommend, and provide resolution on position vacancies, compensation, and benefits questions or concerns.

• Manage HR department budget and oversee invoice and reimbursement approvals.

• Support and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our operations and enrichment of our culture, for example by serving on ad hoc or ongoing work groups, assisting with the onboarding and training of colleagues, and participating in efforts to assess, refine, and strengthen our culture and practices

Requirements

• 8+ years of HR Generalist experience with 2 years as a manager

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field

• Relevant HR certification is preferred (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP)

• Comprehensive knowledge and experience in HR Compliance and HR Policy formulation

• Demonstrable experience in Benefits Administration and Compensation & Benefits

• Ability to develop and implement HR Strategy aligned with organizational goals

• Strong skills in Performance Management and employee evaluation
