Ridgeview Medical Center Medical Lab Tech/Medical Lab Scientist in Waconia, Minnesota

Purpose of Job This position is responsible for serving both internal and external customers by performing a variety of laboratory procedures in accordance with Ridgeview Medical Center philosophy, policies, and procedures and in accordance with all regulatory agencies. Focus areas include: Automated Chemistry, Immuno-Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, Semen Analysis, Advanced and independent work in Blood Bank and/or Microbiology. Job Functions Performs proper specimen collection, testing and reporting of laboratory tests ordered. Performs a variety of qualitative and quantitative laboratory test, both manual and automated to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of pathological disease. Performs timely and accurate clinical lab reports and quality control measures of laboratory equipment as well as troubleshoots and performs corrective action on instrumentation. Assists with development and maintenance of procedures and workflow. Assists with the training and orientation of new staff and visiting students. Assists in maintaining adequate inventories. Evaluates new products and instrumentation as directed. Acts as a technical resource for Laboratory/Nursing personnel and Providers: presents technical information to Laboratory personnel; discuss test results with Providers as requested. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Chemistry or Biology or related fields Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills Ability to maintain technical competence Ability to work autonomously and as a team License/Certifications Certified as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology board of registry per CLIA standards.
