Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Public Notice for Direct Hire (Data Modernization) - Visual Information Specialist in United States

Summary The CDC utilize Direct Hire Authority to fill vacancies in a variety of occupations. The vacancy is a REPOSITORY of applications. Applications may be periodically referred to hiring managers both during the open period and after the closing date. Because of the large number of applications anticipated, applicants' status will not be updated. Visual Information Specialist: Grades GS-7 through GS-15 Requirements Conditions of Employment Due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) process enhancement to use Shared Certificates throughout the Agency, some of the requirements below may differ: US Citizenship is required. Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (http://www.sss.gov). May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation. Security clearance level may differ from the position announced when certificates are shared. CDC participates in the USCIS Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify). If selected, CDC will determine your employment eligibility using your social security number. Direct Deposit is required. One-year probationary period may be required. This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Due to positions being filled at multiple grade levels and locations, you may be subject to initial and random drug testing. Positions may be Supervisory. Some positions will be filled as permanent or term appointments. This position may be subject to the OGE Financial Disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (P.L. 95-521). CDC inspires public confidence in its trust responsibilities and mission by maintaining high ethical principles. If selected, you may be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450) to determine if a conflict or an appearance of a conflict exists between your financial interest and your prospective position with the agency. If identified, this will be an annual requirement. In accordance with Executive Order 12564 of September 14, 1986, The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is A Drug-Free Federal Workplace. This position may require a Drug Test and be subject to Random Drug Testing. The position may require the submission of a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and be subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing upon hiring. If required to submit to urinalysis, the appointment to the position will be contingent upon a negative test result. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: GS-7: At least 1 year of graduate-level education in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other related field OR Superior Academic Achievement (see education section) OR 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-5 OR A combination of education and experience GS-9: At least 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other related field OR 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-7 OR A combination of education and experience GS-11: At least 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other related field OR 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-9 OR A combination of education and experience GS-12 & above: At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level Education A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected. A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. Superior Academic Achievement is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2years of the curriculum. Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society -- Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. Additional Information Locality pay will be adjusted to reflect location after selection. Salary may be adjusted to include a Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) of 1.69% for Anchorage, Alaska, 8.90% for Honolulu, Hawaii, and 2.63% for Puerto Rico.
