Primary Function

The Motion Graphics Designer role is responsible for developing and animating in both 2D and 3D. This team member can create both photo-realistic or stylized materials, lighting, environments, and will render images and animations for marketing communications.

Scope of Responsibility

This position will report to the Digital Content Manager and will work closely with other members of the Digital Content, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing and Training teams on a daily basis in support of organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design, edit & deliver high fidelity renders and animations

  • Work with others to create effective training and marketing materials

  • Collaborate with immediate team members, as well as marketing, product management, engineering and other departments

  • Collaborate with external vendors where necessary based on project scale

  • Active participation in the creative brief intake process in conjunction with key internal stakeholders

  • Management of internal or external CAD 3D formats (STEP, FBX, SLDPRT, etc...)

  • Management and use of 2D & 3D software & technology (C4D, Redshift, Adobe CC)

  • Ensuring outputs meet technical accuracy based on stakeholder direction

  • Organization & automation of project-related assets for multi-purpose marketing & training needs (ex. literature, video & web outputs)

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in animation, graphic design, fine arts, digital media, visual communications, or related field

  • 5+ years of illustration & animation experience

  • Established knowledge of illustration & animation best practices, tools, and software

  • Experience with PBR material workflows, HDRI’s, Adobe CC, 3ds Max, V-Ray, CAD software, and production workflows with teams

  • Advanced experience with Cinema4D, Redshift, and After Effects

  • Strong computer skills with both PC and Mac

  • Well organized, detailed oriented, and self-motivated

  • Ability to work across multiple projects & tasks under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to develop expert product knowledge of A. O. Smith products; engineering design, construction and marketing go-to market strategy

  • Must be curious, resourceful, team-oriented, and have strong problem-solving skills

  • Strong communicator & collaborator with colleagues, superiors, and members of the organization outside of your team to accomplish & improve designs

  • Proactive – must be able to initiate contact and assemble information from various departments

  • Hybrid work – In Office 3 Days per week & Remote 2 Days per week

  • Flexibility and ​​​​​​ability to travel
