Elite Contracting Group is seeking a Construction Crew Leader to join our Eastern Region Office in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Elite Contracting Group is one of Virginia's fastest-growing full-service security and resiliency solution integration companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a small crew, assigning work tasks and monitoring work quality

  • Ensure crew safety

  • Train new employees

  • Interpret and explain plans to other workers

  • Confer with supervisors on matters such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems

  • Perform skilled equipment operations

  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment

  • Set detours, lane closures, and work zones adhering to highway maintenance/construction practices and procedures, including interpreting and applying work zone safety and traffic controls

  • Perform manual labor and utilize hand and power tools such as trimmers, pole saws, jackhammer, concrete saw, drills, shovels, etc.

  • Operate light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and equipment

  • Perform work in various conditions and environments, including exposure to the outdoors and insects

    Qualifications:

  • Experience working in construction

  • Experience operating hand and power tools and equipment such as shovels, drills, and measuring tapes

  • Skilled in operating and maintaining light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and equipment

  • Strong communication skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to interpret plans and drawings

  • Prefer experience working on roadways, including Management of Traffic (MOT) training and certification and/or experience performing lane closures

  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check

  • Must be motivated, willing to work as a team, and willing to learn

  • Must be able to push and carry 50-70 pounds

  • Must be able to work in all outdoor weather conditions

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
