C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. Automation Maintenance Manager in Vernon, Connecticut

Position Overview

Provide direct leadership to the Automation maintenance team including all aspects of coaching and performance management of the team, fiscal responsibility for the department, and accountability to delivering defined goals and objectives. Provide guidance in use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and adherence to all corporate programs and procedures. Provide leadership, training and mentoring to ensure the Automation Maintenance team can interface with and foster successful relationships with operations, HR, safety, IS, transportation, and corporate Facilities SMEs.

Job Description

You Will Contribute By:

  • Ensure teams work safely. Provide management, functional and technical knowledge required for all Automation systems in scope of responsibility, maintenance systems, and maintenance asset management. Coordinate with the Work Planner/Supervisor and Technicians on a day to day basis. Oversee and review scopes of all outsource manufacturer's representatives and vendors performing work on the Automation system and equipment. Host and Attend meetings at regular intervals with OPS Leaders, EHS, SME's and Maintenance team to review progress, opportunities, programs, problems, and develop strategies.

  • Manage and oversee yearly maintenance budget. Oversee creation, submittal, and monitoring of AOR portion of yearly operational maintenance budget (short- term rentals, long term rentals, purchases, and emergency/crisis management) and capital maintenance budget. Budget requires a three year look ahead with detailed project estimates for AOR. Monitor budgeted, non-budgeted, capital, and expense projects for maintenance departments of all areas of the automation system.

  • Assist Managers and Supervisors with the facility's utilization of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Review weekly the daily inputs, including, but not limited to work orders and purchase orders. Monitor the execution of scheduled tasks via the completion of asset specific preventive work orders. Monitor and critique the weekly time spent working on assets compared to total paid time. Monitor and critique the usage of parts to ensure that the on hand inventories are accurate for owned and consigned parts and that proper purchase order quantities are placed when needed. Utilize CMMS reporting function to analyze specific performance trends.

  • Oversee both in-house and outsourced projects from start to finish. Initiate, review and approve CAPX or Expense request documentation. Take project through bid/request, start-up, construction, and completion phases. Report weekly on status of all projects at your facility. Report weekly on budgets for AOR including cost over runs, overtime breakdowns, emergency requests, labor details, etc.

  • Be initial leadership point of contact in a system down event. Ensure defined equipment down escalation and communication procedures are adhered to. Ensure breakdown analysis or other defined root cause tools are used based on defined triggers.

Skills

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience/ certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing or equivalent field; General Facilities and Equipment or MHE maintenance background. Areas of knowledge and exposure: Electrical, Fire and Asset Protection, HVAC and Refrigeration, Material Handling Equipment.

  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Maximo preferred. Extensive Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Word experience.

  • Physical abilities: Frequent walking, standing, climbing and squatting

  • Utilize progressive coaching and counseling concepts according to established policies and procedures to provide continuous feedback on performance, increase employee retention and improve employee relations; Sense of urgency and ability to work independent of supervision following maintenance procedures and manuals. Ability to work effectively on multiple priorities and tasks; Ability to create strong partnerships across internal and external customers; Excellent written, verbal, and visual presentation communications skills
