Senior PFT Lab Specialist

Department: PULMONARY FUNCTION LAB

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Respiratory Care Management Staff and the Respiratory Care Medical Director performs pulmonary diagnostic studies, and maintains equipment and records related to the Pulmonary Function Lab

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform all daily testing activities and ensure that test results meet ATS criteria

  • Assist Department Secretary with report processing as required to include: file maintenance and test result distribution

  • Complete all “charge posting” for tests completed

  • Assist Department Medical Director with PFT in servicing for the Family Practice Residency Program.

  • Collect and tabulate data for the Department Quality Improvement Plan

  • Perform duties as described in the Registered Respiratory Therapist job description

  • Assures safe operation and maintenance of equipment, materials and resources to complete the work within the time assigned

  • Participates in CQI and TQM concepts and practices

  • Assist in the orientation of new staff

  • Perform other duties as required

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Associate Degree in Respiratory Care

  • 3-5 years acute care clinical experience

  • C.R.T. or R.R.T. and C.P.F.T. from the National Board for Respiratory Care

  • Current license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the NYS Department of Education

  • B.L.S. Certification
