Hiring Range: \$17.36 - \$20.40 Per Hour

Salary offers are based on the candidate\'s equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.

\ Performs routine trades or craftsman duties above the helper or apprentice levels, maintaining and repairing facilities, equipment, vehicles, their parts, or surrounding grounds in direct support of a process, system, or facility. Also, participates in construction or renovation activities. Work requires manual labor and the use of hand and powered tools, equipment, and/or vehicles and frequently involves repetitive individual tasks in a variety of work settings.\ \ This position is located at Agua Caliente Park (12325 E Roger Road, Tucson, AZ 85749.) The successful candidate will be required to work some rotating evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Minimum Qualifications:

(1) One year of experience performing helper or apprentice-level duties inlandscaping, irrigation, and/or building maintenance.

(Relevant training or education may substitute for up to one year of the aforementioned experience.)

OR:

(2) One year of experience within Pima County as a TM Helper inlandscaping, irrigation, and/or building maintenance.Some positions may require additional specialized training and/or experience.

  1. Minimum of one (1) year experience in landscape maintenance including the use and operation of riding mowers, string trimmers, pruning saws, chain saws, loppers, hand pruners, blowers, basic hand tools, and small engine equipment.
  2. Minimum of one (1) year experience in building and structure maintenance (painting, light carpentry, plumbing, changing lamps/light bulbs, cleaning, and handyman-type repairs).
  3. Minimum of one (1) year experience maintaining and repairing irrigation systems including drip applications and turf irrigation.
  4. Minimum of six (6) months experience working around a water feature, including performing maintenance while in a small boat.
  5. Possession of an Arizona-certified applicator license.

Selection Procedure:\ Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum/desired qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum/desired qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Licenses and Certificates:Valid driver license is required at time of application. ValidAZdriver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination.
