Position Overview:

Jones County Sheriff's Office is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Deputy Sheriff. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will play a crucial role in upholding law and order, ensuring public safety, and serving the citizens of Jones County, North Carolina. We are looking for candidates who have completed basic law enforcement training, a clean background, and the ability to obtain a North Carolina drivers license.

Responsibilities:

  • Enforce local, state, and federal laws within Jones County jurisdiction.

  • Patrol assigned areas to maintain public safety, prevent crime, and respond to emergencies.

  • Conduct thorough investigations of criminal activities, accidents, and incidents.

  • Make arrests, issue citations, and testify in court as required.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with the community.

  • Provide assistance and support to fellow officers and agencies as needed.

  • Serve legal documents, such as warrants, summons, and subpoenas.

  • Conduct traffic control and enforce traffic laws.

  • Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic law enforcement training (BLET) from an accredited institution.

  • Clear background investigation, including criminal history checks and reference checks.

  • Ability to pass a drug test in accordance with department policies.

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid North Carolina drivers license.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations.

  • Physical fitness and the ability to meet the requirements of the job.

  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
