Eaton is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for the Power Electronics (PE) Center of Excellence (CoE) team located in Titchfield, UK. The ideal candidate for this role would be a technically adept engineer with leadership qualities who is capable of inspiring a cross-functional team and forging strong connections with international colleagues.

Eaton’s Power Electronics CoE accelerates the company’s growth through the development of power electronics technology, platforms, and common building blocks that are scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable, as well as standardized design methodologies that can be adopted by multiple business units, which provide a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative products.

What you’ll do:

• Lead and direct a team of engineers and projects to achieve stated goals and objectives

• Monitor and report on the overall performance of a team and projects. Creates a performance-based culture, encouraging the team to develop measurable goals and objectives that support CoE strategies.

• Coach and mentor team members and strengthen the technical capability of the team

• Supports the CoE Director to develop strategy, direction, and priorities. Creates action plans to drive strategies to realization.

• Supports the CoE Director and Business Unit (BU) engineering leaders in the development of technology roadmaps, project pipelines, detailed project plans, and value proposition

• Initiates and develops solid relationships with both engineering and business leaders within Eaton to drive the adoption of new technology, common platforms/designs, and state-of-the-art design methodologies.

• Drives engineering excellence both in CoE and the BU’s teams.

Qualifications:

• BS in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering or equivalent.

• Minimum 10 years of related engineering experience in electronics designs, and electronics product development and qualification, including electrical aspects.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in leading people

• Proven track record of leadership skills and technical capability

• Experience in project management

• Customer-focused with good relationship-building and communication skills

• Ability to learn new skills, knowledge, industry, or products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in electronics designs and product development, especially power electronics for safety critical applications, including aerospace application

  • Broad knowledge of power electronics designs including topology, analog/digital circuits, thermal management, control, and firmware

  • Understanding of compliance standards, including MIL standards

  • Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes

  • Design for Six Sigma certification
