Digi-Key Electronics Maintenance Systems and Buildings Technician in Thief River Falls, Minnesota

To learn more, visit our . __ Position Overview:The Maintenance Systems and Buildings Technician is responsible in providing mechanical, industrial, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge as well as support the automation of the equipment within the operations of DigiKey. This role maintains and enhances existing building systems, supports the equipment involved in system upgrades, and is involved in the commissioning of equipment. This role is accountable to the Senior Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager. This position will collaborate as a team with other technicians, engineers and third-party contractors on a daily basis. The role requires a wide range of knowledge of different equipment and systems. This is considered an essential onsite role, which requires regular onsite attendance. The schedule for this role is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 4:30 PM - 4:30 AM, working 36 hours a week and paid for 40 hours. Responsibilities: Perform all maintenance systems and building tasks with responsibilities at a mastery level. Maintain the Dematic automation equipment in the PDC (Product Distribution Center, Brooks Facility) as well as support equipment within DigiKey Facilities. Trouble-shoot system faults, keeping systems operational and safe. Provide tech support on equipment that is being used by PDCe (Product Distribution Center expansion) and PDC. Maintain support equipment (i.e. auto bagging machines, banding machines, MSL Sealer, tape machines, fire system, etc.). Daily Maintenance of the buildings and grounds (this includes lawn care, snow removal, parking lot maintenance, etc.). Assist in trouble-shooting HVAC systems, plumbing, building construction and electrical functions. Maintain and test all fire systems. This will include assisting on-site 3rd party contractors in repairs or upgrades. Ensure third-party contractors adhere to DigiKey policies as outlined in the contractor training program. Ensure proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment. Participate in the mechanical strip down and reassembly of equipment so everything is working properly. Utilize appropriate health and safety considerations in tasks and in risk assessments. Assist in in documenting department procedures. Meet expectations of performance, speed of response and quality of workmanship. Create strong working relationships within the organization as well as third-party contractors to enable first class service. Provide overall systems training to DigiKey employees as required. Interpret and work with blueprints. Trouble-shooting PLC and control systems. Work over the phone supporting remote technician to troubleshoot system issues. During high stress situations, follow set up instructions and check lists, showing accountability in results. Provide hands on, team-oriented commitment to continuous improvement. Demonstrate strong people skills, building rapport with internal and external DigiKey customers. Be open to weekend and overtime hours required by workload. Occasional travel for training or assisting at offsite locations. Participate in internal and external audits. Operate and understand the functions of generators, as well as log emissions data to submit to the EPA for monthly reporting. Assist with hazardous waste removal, storage and di posal. Work with DK insurance company to ensure DigiKey compliance requirements. Provide building and security checks after hours. Be mindful of where to economize on time management or materials. Attend annual training to ensure the team understands and is able to conduct job functions efficiently and safely. Be willing to learn and adapt to change with role requirements or business needs. Required Skills and Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, with the ability to operate all equipment that is owned or leased by DigiKey, including hand and power tools to assemble and dissemble equipment. Must have experience with equipment maintenance, and modification design. Preferred Software Systems and Tools: PIV Power Tools HVAC Computer literate with basic Microsoft office skills. Education: GED or High School Diploma Physical Requirements: Capable of spending 8-10 hours walking/standing on concrete Ability to lift 40 lbs. from floor to shoulder height Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. alone DigiKey offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401K, and much more. As required by state-specific legislation in many states including California, Colorado, Nevada, and Washington, the starting base compensation for this position is $24.40, commensurate with qualifications and experience. While it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of this reasonable range, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
