SR PROJECT MANAGER ENGINEER

Overview:

The Sr. Project Manager Engineer (PJM) will work with Engineering, Product Management, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and other functions across TE to ensure projects meet financial, schedule, and customer expectations. The PJM is responsible for defining and creating project schedules and ensuring project tasks are executed per that schedule. The PJM is also responsible for identifying resource constraints and working with management for resolution of those constraints. The PJM is expected to adhere to the LEANPD process – a well-defined stage gate process that governs execution of new product development projects within TE. This includes regular presentations to the Business Unit’s Project Approval Committee (PAC).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage one or more New Product Development projects following the LEANPD process, with a focus on launching new products on time and within budget.

  • Manage resources:

  • Ensure the project is “staffed for success”.

  • Negotiate with functional managers and Project Approval Committee (PAC) to alleviate resource constraints as needed.

  • "Discipline the System":

  • Clearly communicate roles, expectations, and accountabilities to all team members on a regular basis ensuring that the team is operating according to the development process.

  • Manage project scheduling and gap closure requirements as needed by holding team members accountable.

  • Ensure project progress and deliverables are achieved across all business functions to ensure compliance with LEANPD Stage Gate process.

  • Report out project status to PAC following contract date.

  • Proactively monitor project execution with specific emphasis on providing early warnings to detect, develop, and implement corrective action plans where required.

  • Resolve project conflicts and establish escalation path on all projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or equivalent.

  • Certification in project management or equivalent, PMP is preferred.

  • 5+ years working experience in project management or equivalent.

  • Strong and thorough knowledge of project management techniques and tools. Proficient in using Microsoft project Gant charts to track and manage project schedules.

  • Demonstrated ability to create effective project plans, risk management, uncertainty management.

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes.

  • Proficient understanding of cost models and P&L statements.

  • History of using data analytics and critical thinking to reach logical conclusions and to persuade others.

  • Proven leadership in a matrix organization, able to lead by influence without reporting line authority.
