Purpose of the Position:

  • Responsible for thermal equipment engineering design focus on glass melting and forming.

  • Mechanical design and prototyping for glass melting and forming equipment design across Corning Businesses.

  • Grow technical capabilities and competencies in equipment engineering supported for manufacturing/engineering with fundamental understandings.

  • Develop new core technology of glass melting and forming process equipment to support Corning success.

Project involved with:

  • Thermal equipment design, modification, construction, and improvement, such as glass melting and forming.

  • Technology transfer, capacity expansion and process industrialization for manufacturing operation.

  • Innovation projects with research, development, engineering and manufacturing teams.

  • Energy saving and efficiency improvement.

Required Skills:

  • Backgrounds in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics under engineering/industrial level.

  • Familiar with the fundamental of thermal or flow equipment engineering (e.g. heat treatment, heat transfer, forming, and mixing technology etc.).

  • Familiar with thermal equipment design and build, such as furnace, kiln, lehr or oven etc.

  • Possesses the fundamental knowledge of equipment design

  • Knowledge of the gas combustion system design.

  • Workable 2D/3D CAD skills.
