Eaton Corporation Wirer/Assembler in Syracuse, New York

Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Wirer/Assembler. The core hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The hourly rate for this position is $20.87 per hour.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform a variety of assembly, machining, wiring, gauging, fitting, and packing duties to completely assemble and recondition a variety of explosion proof components and products; power panels; and panel boards that conform to rigid specifications and quality demands.

  • Work from wiring diagrams, orders, or engineering specifications and use data base systems as needed for reference purposes.

  • Setup and operate fabricating machines to cut, strip and attach lug ends to wire leads.

  • Inspect and check hub arrangement to specifications and drawings; file and remove burrs; apply grease to screw threads and screw on covers or oil cover and body and check for tight joints using feeler gauge; tighten bolts on cover and set aside for pickup; assemble nameplates to covers as necessary with self-tapping screws; assemble switches or breakers as specified; assemble mounting feet to body with screws.

  • Use variety of hand, pneumatic and power tools such as screwdrivers, nut runners, wrenches, taps, etc, operate hand drill to tap or re-tap holes, and file components to clean up or fit.

  • Perform wiring operations, using P.O.’s, wiring diagrams and operation method sheets required to build various terminal block units along with explosion proof units.

  • Use special care in the preparation and inspection of all mating surfaces in explosionproof assemblies, and vary procedures in sequence as necessary to meet varying conditions of material and product.

  • Assemble mounting plates or frames; assemble and wire starters, relays, transformers, switches, circuit breakers; assemble electrical details to housings; GFI and hot test GFI; affix operating shafts, bearings and indicating plates; fit and adjust outer operating controls as prescribed.

  • Wire and solder connections as specified using care to maintain continuity and avoid damage to heat sensitive components and delicate parts

  • Three (3) years minimum working in a manufacturing environment.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Syracuse, NY will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation
