Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

Responsibilities

  • Own cable assembly products engineering tasks from conception phase to end of life phase.

  • Interface with planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and quality engineers to ensure timely introduction of new and sustaining cable assembly products to the production floor.

  • Work with project management (PjM) to assure product engineering commitments are met for new product development projects.

  • Support the engineering change process (-115/ECR/ECN) by interacting with various functional teams to ensure engineering change is clearly understood and properly executed.

  • Support manufacturing and quality on processing issues related to product design/requirements.

  • Provide product engineering support during product quote phase which includes verifying manufacturability to the customer specifications, generating both quote drawings and quote bill of materials and identifying opportunities to design in TE Connectivity’s value-added products.

  • Provide engineering support in identifying cost savings opportunities for new and sustaining products.

  • Support in responding to customer issues/complaints.

  • Draft production drawings using Harnware and other CAD software’s like Creo.

What your background should look like:

  • Must be certified to work with UK-MIL sensitive products.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering highly desirable.

  • Must be accountable and own it.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in the UK Military Aerospace and Defense industry.

  • Experience using military spec connectors, terminating products, backshells, wire and cable, and heat shrinks products.

  • Excellent written and oral communications in English.

  • Exposure to manufacturing processes for copper cable assemblies.

  • Experience using CAD software like Creo and AutoCAD/(ZWCAD).

  • Exposure to cable assembly design software’s like TE’s Harnware is a plus.

  • Experience using industry workmanship standards like IPC-620.

  • Experience using industry soldering standards like J-STD-001.

  • Experience using SAP to verify routings, MBOMs, production orders etc.

  • Experience using Microsoft office.

  • Open to hybrid-schedule.
