Google Thermal Manufacturing Engineer in Sunnyvale, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.

  • Experience with statistical product quality control, process capability, failure analysis, and process improvement.

  • Experience in leading process development, design for manufacturability, hardware manufacturing, and lean manufacturing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience with process and production line development for thermal assemblies.

  • Experience delivering high volume manufacturing solutions, resolving issues, leading yield improvements, and managing cycle time reductions for complex parts and assemblies.

  • Ability to collaborate with multi-geographical teams on problem-solving projects spanning multiple manufacturing technologies.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Be responsible for developing manufacturing strategy, performing Design for Excellence (DFX), and driving implementation of manufacturing solutions for thermal assemblies.

  • Drive concurrent engineering through effectively communicating design, process, tooling and material changes to Google manufacturing partners and design engineering peers.

  • Act as a technical representative to Thermal Commodity team, providing manufacturing engineering expertise in supplier selection, qualification, and management during product development and sustaining.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and product designs. Identify process, tooling, and automation opportunities to support high volume manufacturing at desired quality levels, reduced cost, and product repeatability.

  • Provide support for manufacturing and field quality issues, owning resolution of manufacturing/supplier issues, and driving design issues with the Engineering team as appropriate.
