Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Biological Science or a closely related field in hand by March 20, 2021. Experience in performing animal experimentations, such as intranasal inoculation, gavage, and intraperitoneal and intravenous injections. Familiarity with organ excision for Tissue Burden Studies. Experience in performing microbial and human cell culture.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with animal studies. Experience with microbial and human cell cultures. Familiarity with metabolite or/and lipid research (e.g. phospholipids, sphingolipids and fatty acids). Knowledge with protein-protein interaction, effect of lipids on membrane proteins.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Microbiology and Immunology. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

  • Performing animal experiments to determine the efficacy of antifungal drugs on mice survival and tissue burden culture (organ infectivity) upon fungal infections (e.g. cryptococcosis, candidiasis and aspergillosis). Microbial and human cell culture analysis.

  • Analyze, interpret the results of the analysis, solve potential problems and pitfalls, and discuss the data with the principal investigators

  • Contribute to write reports and manuscripts on the results obtained

  • Present the results in a logical way during research meetings or presentations and be able to provide ideas and set up next experimentations/questions

  • Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
