Express Employment Professionals Yard Supervisor Linker in Sterling Heights, Michigan

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Yard Supervisor to oversee daily operations in our yard. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team, coordinating shipping and receiving activities, and ensuring efficient warehouse operations. We are hiring a Supervisor for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. These positions offer many benefits including:

Duties:

  • Participate in daily pre-shift meetings
  • Reports to materials manager and regularly communicates with the on shift supervisors and shift manager
  • Liaises with customers, where appropriate
  • Responsible to track, monitor, and report on all yard activity utilizing Controlled Shipping System and our RT systems
  • Responsible for daily scheduling of trailers in/out of our docks necessary to support our operational requirements
  • Responsible to escalate any constraints within the process to staff and customer in a timely manner.
  • Reviews all relevant daily reports
  • Regularly reviews trailer status in 3270 system & correct them as needed
  • Summarize daily progress and reports on significant events that occurred during the shift
  • Ability to perform basic job specific functions using the warehouse management system
  • Complies with all company policies, relevant procedures and legal guidelines
  • Verify departed trailers in the system for that shift, to ensure they are showing up on the gate log (this may be assigned to security)
  • Oversees the trailer activity in the receiving yard and in the 3270 system

Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a related position in a similar work environment preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with strong organization and analytical skills
  • Strong understanding/experience with office software including MS Word and MS Excel
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent understating of administration and record maintenance skills
  • Able to format data into different graphs/charts and KPF Reports
