Job purpose

Analyze malfunctions and repair, rebuild, and maintain 53' trailers

Duties

• Regularly performs maintenance and safety-affecting activities of 53' trailers used in transportation on public highways in interstate and foreign commerce

• Reports any unsafe equipment or working conditions to Lead Mechanic or management immediately

• Ensures that all equipment is functioning smoothly and safely for operations in compliance with federal, state and local laws

• Ensures the safety of all employees, the public, and customers by following the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and CLAW policy for inspections, repairs, and maintenance of fleet equipment

• Maintains records of the service repairs and part changes made on equipment 

• Works with Lead Mechanic to ensure timely maintenance and inspections schedules

• Projects a professional, helpful, and prompt company image through in-person and phone interactions

• Follow all company safety policies and FMCSA regulations

• Maintain a record of supplies on hand and used to maintain corporate fleet

• Conduct regular service, repairs, and inspections of trailers as designated by maintenance schedules, FMCSA Regulations and Lead Mechanic. Equipment repairs may be performed in the field (jobsite) or in a shop or yard

• Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as welding equipment, and jacks

Secondary Duties

• Assist Lead Mechanic in a variety of tasks related to maintaining CLAW fleet as needed. Some duties may include, but are not limited to, changing tires, inspecting and adjusting breaks, routine maintenance, annual inspections, interior issues, and heating and cooling issues, as needed 

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year related work experience, certification helpful

Pay:

$26.00-$28.00/Hourly

Schedule:

This is a full time position, Monday through Friday, Saturday required as needed. Ideal start time is 5:00AM. This position will routinely work overtime.
