Join our team and help us keep communities connected. Stantec's Transportation group has an immediate need for a Senior Railway Design Task Lead to join their team in St. Paul, MN. Your Duties: Roles & Responsibilities - The candidate will serve as part of the leadership team for the Rail/Transit Group within Transportation in the US Midwest and will report to the Freight Rail Leader - US Midwest The candidate will be recognized for his achievements in railway engineering and possess knowledge and communication skills to help build the Rail/Transit Group, as well as, manage, develop, and execute Rail/Transit projects. The candidate will also be considered an authority with respect to Rail/Transit projects and how to overcome the challenges related to winning, managing, and executing rail/transit projects. The candidate will be able to lead technical teams and produce technical documents to meet the needs of our Rail/Transit projects. While the candidate's initial focus will be on opportunities in the US Midwest, broader responsibilities in other Regions will be considered based on demand and the candidate's skills and abilities. A. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES (20% Time Commitment) Important responsibilities of this role involve managing clients and assisting in the identification and winning of rail/transit projects across North America with an emphasis on projects in the US Midwest. 1. General Rail/Transit Group Promotion (10% Time Commitment) Responsibilities will be undertaken in collaboration with local leadership, the Rail/Transit Group, and others in Transportation and include: * Providing input in identifying and following through on major projects, and cross-regional pursuits including national client accounts. * Increasing Stantec's industry profile through regular interaction with existing and potential clients, other consultants/contractors, as well as participation in industry organizations, such as AREMA, and other relevant regional organizations. * Identifying and tracking potential projects / teaming opportunities including Design-Bid-Build, Design/Build and P3 projects through client liaisons. 2. Project Specific Business Development (10% Time Commitment) * Development of project pursuit teams to be led by Stantec * Securing support positions on project teams to provide Rail/Transit services in other business centers and Regions * Proposal writing including managing the proposal preparation process and fee / schedule negotiations B. RAIL/TRANSIT TEAM MANAGEMENT (5% Time Commitment) * Assisting with the development of the annual business plan for the Rail/Transit Group. * Identifying and developing existing and future technical resource candidates and career development opportunities for staff within the Rail/Transit group. * Encouraging cooperation, sharing of skills and workload between projects and the balance of Rail/Transit staff located in various Transportation business centers across the company. * General oversight and assistance to other project managers within the Rail/Transit Group with attention to schedule and budget issues. * Leading efforts to continue improvements in QA/QC processes and fostering a culture of being cost effective, efficient, and thorough in delivering projects. * Managing certain staff in the Rail/Transit group on a day to day basis and providing input into the employee Career Development and Performance Review and Compensation processes.
