Mental Health Associate Job ID: 42769 Department: Nrsg NE6 Cluster E Psych City: St. Paul, MN Location: RH - Regions Hospital & Clinics Position Type: Part-Time Anticipated Work Schedule: Various shifts and FTEs Shift: Day Hrs/Pay Period: 40 Job Description: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: 1) Holds a bachelor's or higher degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university; OR 2) Holds a bachelor's degree in other field and has at least 2,080 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness or related/applicable experience; OR 3) Has at least 6,240 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness or related applicable experience; 4) A current Regions Hospital Psych Nursing Assistant who has successfully completed the MHA training program at Regions Hospital. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Has a knowledge of the psychological principles of behavior Able to plan and facilitate therapeutic groups. Experience with planning and facilitation strongly preferred Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills Able to establish effective relationships with health care team members. Skill in utilizing psychologically based information to establish good interpersonal relationships Able to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast paced environment. Customer service skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Able to work independently Licensure/Registration/Certification: Current CPR certification. POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Mental Health Associate provides patient care to patients experiencing mental illness(es) and their families using de-escalation skills, group dynamics and facilitation. This includes assisting with crisis management, therapeutic programming and milieu management as member of the Mental Health Care team. This role is instrumental in addressing emergent and urgent issues as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
