THE LEARNING CENTER FOR FAMILIES DBA ROOT FOR KIDS Family Support Specialist -Iron County in ST. GEORGE, Utah

Root for Kids mission is to nurture strong beginnings in all children and we are seeking a person who wants to make a difference for children in the community. The Family Support Specialist will provide information and developmental activities for children ages birth to five, or information and support to pregnant women, in home-based and group settings. Will conduct screening for children in the areas of health and development,  and  track child's progress.   Will help parents develop goals for their child and family and plan activities around the goals. Will   help each family connect with community resources as needed, or determine barriers that prevent the family from connecting and set goals to overcome barriers. 

Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.  Associate or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or a  related field preferred.  Experience working with children and families needed. Must have excellent communication skills with Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.  Requires good record keeping ability and good computer skills including some data entry.  Requires a person with full mobility, the ability to see, hear and speak, and lift up to 20 lbs.  Accommodations can be made as necessary.  Applicants will be required to pass a background check and e-verification. Must have  a current driver license and reliable transportation to conduct home visits, with employer paid mileage.
