Position Summary

The material handler is essential to our day-to-day operations. This position is responsible for loading and unloading materials on and off trailers as well as transporting materials throughout the warehouse and to job sites. This position must have knowledge of all safety protocols and a strong understanding of how to operate powered machinery. The material handler must also understand where all materials go and must have good communication skills in order to communicate with their team. This position is an entry level position that can move you into a Sheetmetal Worker Apprentice, HVAC Service Apprentice, or Electrician Apprentice programs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Experience in a physically-demanding, labor-intensive position lifting up to 100 lbs. properly, repeatedly, and daily

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

  • Previous experience in order selection, receiving, loading, and unloading material is desirable

  • Operate a forklift and hand controls in a safe manner

  • Must have basic math skills for inventory counts; verbal and written skills to be able to read purchase orders and communicate with team members

  • Be reliable, safe, and a team player

  • Verifying the accuracy of quantity and quality of incoming and outgoing deliveries

  • Performs general facility cleanup and other duties as assigned

  • Comply with all safety rules and guidelines

    Required Skills

  • Good communication

  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, and climb ladders throughout shift

  • Forklift experience preferred or will be trained

  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude

  • Ability to work weekends/overtime

  • Deadline and detail-oriented

    Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Must possess current driver’s license and maintain satisfactory driving record

  • CDL with current DOT Medical Exam preferred
