Are you ready to wholeheartedly dedicate yourself to your work? Merakey is in search of a part-time Psychiatrist to join our ACT team covering Somerset and Bedford counties in Western Pennsylvania. This team focuses on supporting transition age youth, specifically those between 16 and 24 years old. Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Teams consist of a range of professionals, from psychiatrists and nurses to mental health and substance abuse specialists, employment and housing experts, and peer support specialists. Together, they offer comprehensive services, including therapy, medication management, and resource connections for adults dealing with serious mental illness (SMI). These services are delivered either in the individual's home or within the community, typically involving one in-person visit per month. Schedule-wise, this role entails 20 hours per week, including one on-site day with flexible hours available. Details of the Position: Conduct psychiatric and medical assessments and oversee treatment. Provide clinical supervision, necessary education, and team training, including supervision of medication, psychiatric treatment policies, and procedures. Perform psychiatric assessments, therapeutic sessions (individual, group, family), and educational interventions as required. Prescribe psychotropic medications and regularly evaluate their efficacy and side effects, educating clients about these medications. Collaborate with registered nurses in assessing clients' physical health, making referrals to community physicians, and coordinating medical treatments with psychiatric care. Offer ongoing support, counseling, and education to team members and clients' family members, empowering them with knowledge about mental illness. Provide crisis assessment and management during work hours, off-site, over the phone, and serve as on-call backup for emergency situations.
