The Technology House, LTD Quality Engineer in Solon, Ohio

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Quality Engineer for Sea Air Space Machining & Molding/The Technology House (SAS/TTH) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day quality control operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.* Quality Operations*

a) Maintain and calibrate measuring and monitoring devices and ensure suitable QC methods are implemented

b) Perform inspections (e.g., first article, first-piece, customer-required, CTS and CTQ, incoming, general)

c) Maintain quality goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

d) Operate and/or program CMM and interpret data

e) Assist with material movement as relates to non-conforming product

f) Provide immediate feedback on Quality of parts to QC Manager, VP Engineering, and Operation

2. Documentation and Reporting

a) Complete and maintain inspection and calibration records

b) Report and document Nonconformances (NCRs) and Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs)

c) Maintain customer, regulatory, and internal records including Device History and manufacturing files

3. Supervisory

a) Train QC Inspectors and quality objectives for operations department

b) Assign work in QC department to meet production schedule

c) Communicate resource needs to QC Manager

4. Auxiliary

a) Promote continuous Improvement initiatives and assist with investigations on non-conforming parts

b) Assist Quality and Compliance with tracking and audit support

c) Participate in Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and assist with validation production runs

d) Desire to perform other Engineering duties over time to include, troubleshooting product & machine problem

e) Other duties as assigned

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

Key performance indicators, or KPIs, are a set of quantifiable measurements used to gauge overall long-term performance of a company, department, or position. KPIs specifically help determine achievements as they compare performance to a set of targets, objective, or goals. The following KPIs apply to the position and/or department applicable to this job description:

  • Performance Measure: Target
  • On-Time Delivery (OTD): Company Quality Objectives
  • Scrap and Rework Rates of overall company: Company Quality Objectives
  • Customer Satisfaction: Company Quality Objectives
  • Customer Returns (RMAs): 2% or less
  • Training: As Scheduled

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical disciplines
  • Experience in Quality or Manufacturing setting preferred
  • Demonstrate proficiency in time and project management
  • Knowledge of regulatory and quality standards (e.g., NADCAP, ISO 9001, AS 9100, ISO 13485)
  • Knowledge of engineering part drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. GD&T Certificate preferred
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement preferred
  • Strong organizational, written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge, or the ability to learn quality systems
  • Have knowledge or ability to interpret complex customer quality specifications preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to operate computers regularly
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for multiple hours
  • Ability to travel occasionally between facilities
