Amazon Principal UX Designer, Next Generation Developer Experience in Seattle, Washington

Description

Define and build the future of software development as powered by the most transformational technologies of our time. Our organization is seeking a Principal UX Designer to drive and own the user experience of a large segment of our portfolio targeted to accelerate significant aspects of the software development lifecycle. You will be responsible for the direction, conceptualization and execution of new and uncharted experiences. A strong foundation in interaction design and robust UX methods is an absolute must, but you must also possess a bold and creative outlook for those moments when we will diverge from traditional design practice to address novel challenges. As Principal UX Designer, you will work closely with senior product and engineering stakeholders, while actively engaging with your peers in the wider design community - ultimately reporting directly to the Head of Design for the NGDE org. In addition to your core design responsibilities, you will be a pillar of design leadership within a larger multi-disciplinary design team and contribute to overarching design strategy, fundamental HCI & design research, and design innovation activities.

The Principal UX Designer will be leading the UX efforts integrating Q Builder functionality in the IDE. This role will focus on improving and extending the Q/CodeWhisperer functionality while driving the development of new features for the chat experience. The Principal UX Designer will also be responsible for driving quality and consistency for service-team created extensions such that those interactions align to the emerging Q Builder UX across other builder channels. This role will coordinate closely with the PM lead for our CodeGen services.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of design experience

  • Have an available online portfolio

  • Experience with best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design

  • Experience in life cycle design projects from design strategy through execution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing and effectively communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on data

  • Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Keynote, and InVision

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $131,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
