Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio is searching for a Mechanical Designer. TFOME is dedicated to excellence in service and to providing outstanding technical opportunities for our employees. We specialize in providing engineering and technical services in the areas of aero/space propulsion and power test facilities. Responsibilities Develop mechanical projects from conceptual phase through design cycle to complete detailed designs. Develop detailed design models, drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. Consult with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, and drafting standards. Assure that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the drawings produced. Coordinate and consult with other engineers and technicians to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems. Exercise independent judgment in reviewing and interpreting design data based on knowledge of the functional and operational requirements. Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed. Produce design models and/or shop drawings that are clear, concise, free from drafting errors, and meet the job standards and specifications. Qualifications Typically possesses an associate's degree in engineering technology or its equivalent and at least 6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Must be proficient in Creo (ProEngineer) 3D solids modeling software, Windchill Database Management, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Methods and Standards, and Microsoft Office Products.
