Mentor Technical Group Facilities Manager (R&D Laboratory) in San Francisco, California

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate, coordinate, and track day-to-day activities required to ensure the project is completed on time, successfully, and in a manner consistent with organizational goals, departmental policies, and procedures.

  • Write project plans for assigned projects, which include clear milestones and assignment of project task responsibilities. Create, update, and distribute project documentation, including contact lists, schedules, meeting summaries and action item lists.

  • Utilize department-specific information systems, software applications, tools and templates to ensure consistency and quality of project delivery, as well as provide visibility to milestone dates and project status.

  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more directive team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the personnel responsible for the project. Participate in weekly meetings (internal and external) to provide direction, advise project status, delegate actions/activities and overall, successfully execute the project requirements.

  • Adopt a proactive approach to identify risks to project success. Proactively resolve and/or escalate issues across functions regarding project delivery, timelines, readiness, training schedules, material availability, etc., to meet customer commitments and MENTOR targets for orders, sales, revenue and receivables.

  • Identify, propose and/or participate in development of process improvements.

  • Communicate all requirements and commitments (both verbally and in writing) for each project with the staff and management. Display excellent communication and facilitation skills in management of installation and integration projects.

  • Act as the key liaison and business partner to the client at both the project management and executive level as needed.

  • Identify resource needs, manage resource time allocation, and hold team accountable to deadlines.

  • Provides mentoring to less experienced staff.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications Requirements/Knowledge/Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences or Business Administration disciplines is required.

  • MBA preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate equipments, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25-35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • He / she may frequently work inside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, exposed to wet and or humid conditions, and an odorous atmosphere, may be exposed to fumes and the risk of electrical shock, and occasionally work on ladders in high places, in small spaces, such as lift/metering stations, manholes, tanks and wet wells. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
