Job Description Summary

GE’s Power Conversion business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. Our engineers get involved in solving exciting challenges through leading the development and delivery of the engineering aspects of our projects. Job Description

You will be responsible for Control Software and key Control Hardware for GE Power Conversion’s range of Electric Drives. This is a technical role and will involve working in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to specify, design, code & validate control systems for Megawatt-scale power electronic drive systems for Marine, Naval, Energy and Industry applications. In this role you will be:

  • Responsible for designing, developing and maintaining Drive Control Systems technology:

  • Control algorithms, techniques, software and modules.

  • Application software and standards.

  • Core Drive Control PCB hardware.

  • FPGA configurations and I/O interfacing.

  • Accountable for developing and maintaining good engineering interfaces with several teams such as the ITO sales team, Field / commissioning engineering team, Automation Control Dept. firmware development team, as well as with peer groups in the wider GE Vernova.

  • Providing technical advisory in liaising with Suppliers and Customers.

We are looking for a committed professional with:

  • A degree, Master or PHD from an accredited university or college (or equivalent qualification) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or equivalent subject

  • Proven track record of working with Variable Speed Drive technology.

  • Solid experience coding in C, assembler, VHDL, MATLAB code generation and other languages.

  • Experience in designing and maintaining work plans.

  • Strong knowledge and significant experience of the following: Variable Speed Drive Control Schemes / Drive system awareness of interface circuits / Drives system installation / site working.
