WorkSource Oregon Engineering Technician II - assigned to Construction Inspection in Roseburg, Oregon

DEFINITION The Engineering Technician II performs various paraprofessional engineering services related to design, survey, and development activities with a primary focus on Construction Inspection. SUPERVISION RECEIVED This position reports to the Design and Construction Manager. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervision is not usually a responsibility of this position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Unless specifically identified as a \'Non-Essential Job Function\', the information included in this job description, and any referenced supplemental documents, is considered an \'Essential Job Function\'. The following information is not all-inclusive. \' Performs inspections for a variety of projects in the process of construction for compliance with contract documents, engineering standards, and other regulations or ordinances relating to the safety, health, and welfare of the general public. \' Drives to various sites around the city for construction inspections. \' Computes daily and monthly estimates of work completed, reconciles quantities with contractor, and supplies payment recommendation to contractors and construction. \' Identifies and reports nonstandard, safety and traffic control practices to Design and Construction Manager. \' Provides support for Capital Improvement and Developer Projects, including Cathodic Protection Asset installation/testing, GPS data collection, field investigations, standby inspections, project planning and design. \' Supervises the flushing, hydrostatic testing and disinfection of newly installed water lines following the procedure in the City\'s Design & Construction Standards. \' Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with code enforcement staff, contractors and other professionals, City staff, and the public. \' Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations and work processes, provides quality customer service. \' Assists engineering staff with surveying, drafting, specifications, and bidding documents, reviews plans prior to final Department approval. \' Assists engineering staff with infrastructure inventories and maintenance of records. \' Possesses a full understanding of construction phasing principles and concepts. \' Upholds the values of the organization and has strong customer service orientation. \' Attends or conducts pre-construction and other meetings. May be required to explain inspection standards and administrative procedures, if requested. \' Attends continuing education classes and seminars to keep current with construction techniques, materials and best practices. \' Must have the ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace. \' Must be honest and truthful in all tasks and responsibilities. \' Demonstrates regular, reliable and punctual attendance. \' Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
