Health First Assistant General Counsel - Regulatory and Insurance in Rockledge, Florida

POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant General Counsel is responsible for the day-to-day legal matters related to the Integrated Delivery Network (“IDN”). This position plays a critical enterprise role in providing legal advice throughout all divisions of the IDN. The Assistant General Counsel is responsible for overseeing the operations of the legal department as delegated by the Chief Legal Officer. This position plays a critical enterprise role in providing legal advice throughout all divisions of the IDN with a focus around Regulatory and partnership within our Health First Health Plan.

The Assistant General Counsel reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer. This person will provide timely, practical, and actionable legal advice enabling Health First, Inc. to remain one of the leaders in the industry.

This role requires the highest degree of integrity and ability to engage and influence at the senior-most levels of the organization. The Assistant General Counsel should be a strong communicator with the ability to build enduring trusting relationships and possess an understanding of how to accomplish objectives both directly and through influence in other areas of the business.

The Assistant General Counsel possesses strong legal acumen and a penchant for identifying opportunities for business improvements, translating between legal and non-legal audiences, simplifying complex problems, and driving value from data. Additionally, this person may be responsible for overseeing non-attorney legal staff employed by the Corporate Legal Department.

• Education: Juris Doctor • Work Experience in Related Field: Three (3) to five (5) plus years’ legal experience of with progressive responsibility.
• 2 years’ experience in Regulatory and Health plan. • Work Experience in lieu of education: N/A • Licensure: Currently barred (and never been suspended or expelled) by a state within the United States and able to become Authorized Counsel in Florida. • Certification: None • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of law regulations and industry standard impacting health insurance operations. The ability to interpret and apply healthcare regulations and state insurance laws to operational needs. Advise on regulatory filings, licensing, and interactions with regulatory agencies. Review contracts, policies, and procedures to mitigate legal risks and maintain compliance. Superior relationship building, communicational and organizational skills.
