Vectrus Transportation Analyst - ATEMP in Richmond, Virginia

Overview

This position is physically located in Chesapeake, VA

The Transportation Analyst oversees and executes the transportation process across a wide variety of programs and operations within the company. The Transportation Analyst coordinates the movement of goods, products, materials, and ensures compliance with all regulations. The Transportation Analyst manages transportation schedules, assists with warehouse operations, and proactively communicates statuses to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

This is a Temporary Position expected for 6 months or more depending on customer request

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with carriers, programs, project managers, and the warehouse team to prioritize material shipment.

  • Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to arrange for transportation and create and submit relevant shipping documentation to facilitate the timely shipment of material.

  • Ensure HAZMAT material shipments are transported in a safe and compliant manner, have proper shipping documentation, and comply with IMDG, IATA, and DOT regulations.

  • Proactively communicate status updates on shipments to stakeholders and manage shipments to ensure deadlines are achieved.

  • Update and maintain accurate data in system(s) of record, reports, transportation KPIs, and other relevant data.

  • Assist with all warehouse operations including unloading and loading products with carriers, inspecting delivered products, resolves non-conformances, receive, accept, package, put-away, and fulfill orders.

  • Assist in continuous improvement and documentation of warehouse and transportation procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Working Conditions:

  • Work is generally conducted in an office environment; however, duties may occasionally involve working in a warehouse enviroment.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Work may require heavy lifting up to 20lbs, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred

  • 2-3 years previous warehouse or transportation experience

  • Good communication, organizational, time management mathematical skills

  • Dependable and Reliable

  • Must have a valid state driver’s license

  • Must maintain current driver license to operate forklifts and other related equipment.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel)

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Forklift operator

  • HAZMAT certification or experience preferred

  • Understanding of shipping & receiving, inventory and distribution warehousing practices

  • Familiar with inventory software, systems, and databases

  • Experience operating manual and power pallet jacks, Material wrapping and banding machines

  • Experience in Military (MIL-STD) packaging and labeling requirements

  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail with a focus on quality results

    OTHER:
