Position : Fleet Maintenance Supervisor

Supervise day-to-day shop activities and fleet mechanics who provide preventative and corrective maintenance for DFA-owned equipment. Plan, schedule, and document repair work to ensure that all work is done in a safe, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Create and execute the daily/weekly plan for assigned shop location(s) to accomplish preventative maintenance and set or reevaluate priorities depending on location needs. Provide direction to mechanics to ensure that the fleet is repaired and maintained in a safe, efficient, and timely manner with the highest quality

· Supervise the financial status of assigned location(s) and monitor and control labor, supplies, and cost. Oversee shop inventory control system to ensure necessary equipment and parts levels are maintained and purchases are within budget. Review and approve expenses that are within scope of approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to manager as appropriate

· Monitor operational performance and efficiency; assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction opportunities

· Review DVIR’s (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) and communicate service needs to manager or appropriate individual. Ensure proper chain of custody is followed by shop staff for daily paperwork, work orders, and parts usage utilizing fleet management software or other computer programs

· Manage adherence to safety procedures and policies established by company policy, OSHA, and DOT laws

· Perform inspections of internal and outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with company’s safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations; follow up as appropriate

· Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on heavy equipment and vehicles used by the Company, both onsite and on the road

· Assist in routine environmental, safety, OSHA, and DOT compliance and reporting for assigned location

· Develop and maintain professional relationships with local and national vendors to ensure best pricing and quality work

· Actively promote a safety culture by adherence to safety procedures. Work with safety and environmental manager on investigations and corrective actions as a result of injuries/accidents, audits, or employee concerns

· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized fleet maintenance facility

· Create employee schedules, approve timecards/time off requests, and work with HR to resolve any payroll issues. Complete annual performance reviews. Coach, counsel, and discipline employees; interview and hire new employees

· Train and direct fleet maintenance personnel on safest and most efficient methods of performing preventative maintenance and repairs

· High school diploma or equivalent and 2 to 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance (diesel engine, heavy equipment repair) coupled with demonstrated leadership attributes or team lead experience

· Technical degree in the diesel engine, heavy equipment repair industry preferred

· Supervisory experience preferred

· Certification and/or License – ASE T Master Certified preferred; Certified Automotive Fleet Management (CAFM) Financial Systems, CAFM Risk Management, and CAFM Information Management preferred; commercial driver’s license preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA and other federal and state regulation

· Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems

· Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management

· Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations

· Able to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure (whole numbers, common fractions, decimals)

· Able to perform root-cause problem solving

· Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

Pay Range

$78,000 to $85,000
