The opportunity

Our Unity Asset Store team operates the largest marketplace of “Made for Unity” products, targeting a wide range of industries, creator personas and game styles. We play a key role in creating a world-class commerce experience, as well as a personalized search experience and a rich Unity Editor set of integrations are key to ensure Unity creators find what they need, when they need it. That’s where you come in!

We’re looking for our new Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented engineers in architecting, building, maintaining, and operating Unity’s marketplace. You will be responsible for the tooling that powers the Asset Store’s publisher experience as well as the discovery, purchasing & consumption experiences of the Asset Store customers. You will be part of, and be supported by an established cross-functional leadership team that spans design, product management, technical program management, and strategic partners in charge of commercialization.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage and support the growth of the engineers on your team, in charge of end-to-end operations of the largest marketplace of Made for Unity content, including the cloud Infrastructure, backend services and the asset store web user experience.

  • Partner with a highly skilled cross-functional leadership team to ensure a strong strategic direction for the Asset Store.

  • Drive the Asset Store modernization efforts, ensuring the next-generation architecture is designed for high observability, scale and flexibility to rich sales mechanisms and editor integrations.

  • Coordinate with leaders of other internal and external development teams, create relationships and assist with shared initiatives in order to achieve bigger and greater results.

  • Oversee the operational health of deployed systems including documentation and service monitoring.

What we’re looking for

  • Comfortable with modern front-end technologies such as Next.js, React, and back-end technologies such as Golang, Java.

  • Experience running a team in charge of 24/7 high-traffic e-commerce websites.

  • Demonstrated ability to build for scale and reliability in complex interconnected environments.

  • Experience leading and supporting distributed teams of 10+ engineers, through coaching and mentoring.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to federate and lead teams with empathy.

You might also have

  • Experience with Agile development practices like Scrum or Kanban.

  • Experience migrating legacy systems to new platforms (content and processes).

  • Exposure to the Unity Ecosystem, or game development.
