Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us further evolve data connectivity and semantic modeling capabilities in Power BI and Fabric. Responsibilities

  • Own experiences that span across desktop client, web client and server-side components

  • Deliver world-class user experiences and planet-scale cloud services to customers in collaboration with architects, UX designers, and product managers 

  • Architect, design, code, test, and develop features with good quality, maintainability, and end to end ownership

  • Own the end-to-end life cycle of your features, from inception to managing it live on production

  • Maintain customer focus, considering current and future needs when designing and implementing features

  • Collaborate effectively within the team and with partner teams across Microsoft

  • Promote engineering excellence and best practices within the team, ensuring quality and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years' experience in designing and developing internet-scale distributed systems and services

  • 2+ years' experience in Web Development including Angular, React, TypeScript

  • 2+ years of experience with Power BI or other BI/analytic tools.

Other Requirements:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of experience with Power BI or other BI/analytic tools.Experience in data modeling and visualization

  • A self-starting problem-solver who thrives on resolving complex challenges through independent research and agile experimentation.

  • Result-driven, with experience collaborating within and across teams to plan for - and timely execute on - objectives.

  • Proficient communication skills, including the ability to write concise and accurate technical documentation, communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences, and to lead development teams.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
