Cascade Engineering Services Battery Test Engineer (Entry-Level) in Redmond, Washington

Interpret test plans and requests to create new battery tester procedures, measurement documents, and resource allocation

Operate and enable battery testing, supporting battery development. 

  • Starting and monitoring tests  

  • Processing test data and communicating results  

  • Prepare cells and packs for test  

  • Troubleshooting unexpected issues  

  • Processing incoming cells and packs  

  • Collaborating with other team members to manage multiple tests and tasks in parallel  

Lab housekeeping and inventory management (for example, familiarity with 5S procedures) 

Basic Knowledgeable about Li-ion Rechargeable Batteries 

Qualifications

  • AA in Electronics with 2+ years of battery lab work experience, or BS in Engineering, Physics or related fields.

  • Advanced experience with scripting programs; Experience in writing scripts for battery testing is preferred.  

  • Proficiency in parsing and analyzing large amounts of data. 

  • Solid experience with data collection, data storage, data manipulation and analysis 

  • Experience writing detailed and accurate test protocols

  • Ability to understand the context of the tests being performed, able to interpret and explain the test results, and make recommendations

  • Excellent troubleshooting/debug skills.

  • Skill in creating clear and concise summaries 

  • Knowledge of Li-ion battery operation and performance including charging, discharging, safety, impedance, aging, cycle life, temperature effects, failure modes, handling and pack assembly methods, processes and procedures. 

  • Experience with batteries and battery testers

  • Experience with hardware prototype bring-up, debugging, fault detection, and failure analysis. 

  • Ability to work in a lab environment and lift up to 25 lbs. 

  • Safety mindset with attention to detail. 

  • Excellent time and task management skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple workflows. 

  • Strong skills in communicating, collaborating verbally and in writing.
