Radford City Public Schools Long Term Substitute Elementary Special Education Teacher in Radford, Virginia

This position will begin early to mid August.

8VAC20-671-320. B) Substitute teachers shall be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, and have two years of full-time postsecondary education or two years of work experience with children.

POSITION TITLE: Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher -McHarg Elementary

FLSA: Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:Must hold proper state certification

REPORTS TO:Principal and/or other Supervisor

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Implementa variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.

  2. Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.

  3. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

  4. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

  5. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.

  6. Effectively implement district initiatives.

  7. Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  2. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  3. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  4. Serve on committees as assigned.
